BLOG TOUR - EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY: ALIBI: The Complete Series

Today is our stop on the Alibi blog tour. This series intrigued me when I first read about it and I've been eager to read it ever since. You can read an excerpt a little further down the page. I'm also loving the sound of the Colebrook Confessions series.

Title: Alibi
Authors: Annie Miles, John Byrne, Isabel Eckersley, Sorrel Provola
Publisher: Twist Literary Publishing
Release Date: 2012

Abigail Shelton is dead.

Spring Valley's golden girl is found floating face-down in her boyfriend’s pool, hands bound behind her back, head bleeding, drugs and alcohol in her system. Her friends are the only suspects – and they all have reasons to want her dead. Everyone has an alibi, but no one is innocent.

ALIBI is a 4-part young adult e-book series. Each one-hundred page installment reveals the perspective of a different character: the secret love, the nemesis, the boyfriend, the best friend. As their tales unfold, we learn that Abby is not as perfect as everyone believes, but she’s not the only one with secrets to hide. This page-turning tale of suspense, betrayal, murder, and lust will keep fans of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars up and reading well past curfew.

Excerpt: Palmer
There was something about the boy that made Palmer keep sneaking glances across the room. Nothing interesting ever happened in Spring Valley, but this boy was the very definition of interesting. Who on earth could he be? He seemed different—foreign. His pants were slimmer than the baggy khakis most of the guys at school wore and she didn’t recognize the logo on the back of his faded T-shirt.
He made an impressive bank shot to sink the eight ball, and he bent over to retrieve the set for a new game. When he straightened up, he shot Palmer a quick wink—just when she started to wonder if he’d ever notice her.
She wrapped a lock of her hair around one finger, twirling it slowly. He looked like the type of guy who could handle a girl with dark hair.
They spent the next ten minutes exchanging glances. When he made a particularly impressive jump shot, Palmer raised her eyebrow and smiled at him. Making the first move.
He stopped taking practice shots and emptied the table with authority. Each shot was crisp and clean, and he glanced at her after each ball he sank. The tension between them was practically at a boil as he bent over to sink his final shot. Palmer just hoped he could deliver on all the promises carried in his smile.
Palmer pulled her long hair into a quick updo. It was a look she’d perfected back in seventh grade—a prim showing of her long neck combined with the naughtiness of a few loose curls.
The boy reached up to run a hand through his hair and Palmer caught a slice of tanned, cut stomach.
So that’s how he was going to play it.
She took off her sweater and casually draped it over the back of her stool, showing enough skin that when he glanced over at her again, his gaze lingered.
He set the pool cue on the table and walked over, never breaking eye contact.
“I’m Charles,” he said simply, his thigh brushing her knee. He had a delicious accent, which she decided was either English or Australian.
“Palmer.” She held out her hand and Charles shook it. He had a warm, strong handshake. A man’s handshake. Judy was watching from the other end of the bar where she was drying pint glasses with an old towel. She frowned.
“What’s your poison?” he asked, gesturing at her half-empty glass on the bar.
“Normally I take a Manhattan, but tonight it’s a Cuba Libra,” she replied. “I like to pretend I’m anyplace other than Spring Valley.”
He laughed and raised a finger for Judy.
“Another Heineken please, ma’am,” he said. “And a Singapore Sling for the lady.”
Up close, Palmer realized for the first time that this boy might actually be her age. An exchange student, maybe? Usually she reserved her attention for older boys—college boys who were more refined than the buffoons she was forced to endure at school.
She waited to see how Judy would handle his request—if Charles was already inside, that meant whatever fake ID he’d presented to Big Ben passed muster. But Judy had just been promoted to assistant manager, and no doubt was weighing her new responsibility against her usual disregard for rules that cut into her tips.
With a sigh, Judy popped the top on a beer and set it in front of Charles, casting Palmer a warning look. Then she mixed Palmer a weak drink.
Charles slid a few bills across the bar. He was a big tipper, which was important to Palmer, but the way he didn’t even glance at his change made it clear money was no big deal to him.
He took a sip of his beer while Palmer stirred her cocktail with a tiny black straw. They sat there in silence until Palmer decided it was time to advance the game. There was power in being the one to set the pace, and the boy next to her was too delicious to resist.
She took a quarter out of her wallet and slid it across the sticky surface of the bar toward him. “You up for another game?” she asked. “Or do you only play with yourself?”
He arched one eyebrow. “I think you’ll find I play quite well with others.”
