All My Life by Rucy Ban
(First Things #1)
Publication date:
May 2nd 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
Seventeen-year-old Kari meets Neil Mars. “Neil as in Armstrong and Mars…as in Bruno.” A boy who beats every vampire, werewolf, highlander fantasy Kari has ever had. But she knows she can’t get close to him. Not ever. Because that would mean telling him everything. Coming clean. And Kari can’t bear the idea of changing the way Neil looks at her. Like she’s the only girl in the world. His reverence is something too precious to lose. Perhaps even at the cost of losing him.

But Kari doesn’t know why Neil calls her his ‘Angel’ and when she finds out, she realizes what love is all about. Boundless joy, unending longing and a fuckload of heartache.

My Thoughts:

There comes a point in your life when you just have to hit back. Because if you don't, you know you'll lose an essential part of yourself.

Seventeen year old Kari carries around a secret. She's been carrying that burden around since she was sixteen and it's impossible to move past when it keeps rearing it's ugly head. It ripped her heart and her ability to trust to shreds. Especially when it comes to the opposite sex. When Kari meets Neil Mars she can't help the attraction that she feels. But she won't allow herself to get involved. She couldn't possibly let Neil in on her past. But Neil isn't easily deterred.

Just watching him laugh and I know. I'm in extreme danger of falling hard and fast for this boy. This boy whom I've met just moments ago. This boy who I know absolutely nothing about!

Oh, how much did I love Neil. Sexy, confident, self assured, caring, loving, thoughtful... I could go on and on. Does Kari really stand a chance? How can her heart not let him in and fall in love!! I would have loved to get inside his head. To experience exactly what he was feeling as he was falling for Kari. Because he fell pretty quickly and even though we were experiencing everything through Kari's voice, it was Neil who sold it to me.

I found Kari to be a bit of a contradiction. Sometimes she came across as being way beyond her seventeen years and then there were other times when she seemed exactly like the seventeen year old girl she was supposed to be. I suppose that could come about due to the trauma she suffered and the growing up she had to do in the face of that trauma. I just didn't feel for the most part that she came across as seventeen.

All My Life shows exactly how easily a person's feelings can be taken advantage of. But it also shows how strong the heart is and how with determination and the right people around we can overcome the traumas in life.

3.75/5 Stars.

Author Bio:
Rucy Ban was born in 1978 and still continues to thrive. Ever since she first met Francine (the protagonist of her favorite novel, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), Rucy fell in love with the written word. Rucy has a B-school degree in Marketing which she now puts to good use teaching lovable rowdy rogues and negotiating with her equally belligerent adolescent. In her previous avatar, she handled corporate communications for companies. At present, Rucy lives in Sao Paulo, travels often, speaks decent, if not quite fluent, Portuguese and really hates talking about herself in third person.
